These warm sweetened apples are always a crowd-pleaser in our house (especially with the kiddos). They are usually the side that is picked at many of our favorite restaurants. At our house I serve them for breakfast, a quick snack or a side dish. The best thing about this dish is that all the ingredients are things I usually have on hand. You can use any kind of apples you like; my kids prefer Gala or Honeycrisp. This is also a great option for those apples that are going soft.
Ingredients
4 large apples, (about 2 lbs.) peeled and chopped.
Ingredients
4 tbs butter
1 tbs brown sugar
2 tbs cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
Heat a large cast iron skillet on medium heat until butter begins to melt.
Add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Cook over med heat, stirring occasionally until apples are tender. Usually about 5-10 mins.
Serve warm. Top with homemade whip cream or try as an addition to a bowl of vanilla ice cream.
